Do I qualify for the Warm Thy Neighbor program?
You will need to make an appointment with Tedford personnel who will determine your eligibility. Your family income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guideline. Follow these guidelines to see if you qualify.
What documentation do I need to apply for WTN?
You will need verification of income for all working adult family members; social security cards for all family members; a photo ID for the person applying; the name of your fuel dealer and account number; and either your lease showing you are responsible for heat, or if you own your home, a copy of your tax bill or mortgage bill to show ownership of the home.
I don’t have any social security cards. What can I do?
You can still apply if you have a copy of your federal tax return. The first page should show social security numbers for everyone in the household. If you did not file taxes, you can bring any legal documentation showing your social security number or a LIHEAP application.
I’m self‐employed. How can I show proof of income?
You will have to supply the Schedule C profit or loss statement filed with your taxes.
What is the WTN catchment area?
Brunswick, Topsham, Harpswell, Bailey Island, Cundy’s Harbor, Lisbon Falls, Lisbon, Lisbon Center, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Durham.
How much fuel can I get?
Because of community generosity, we are able to allot 100 gallons per family once per heating season.
Can I get a second refill later in the year?
No. Because of the amount of people needing help, we are only able to provide one donation per household per heating season.
Do I really have to be down to a ¼ of a tank before I can apply?
Yes, this program is for emergency use and should be used as a last resort. You are allotted 1 delivery of 100 gallons. If you apply prior to being low on fuel and only use part of the 100 gallons, you will forfeit any remaining amount.
