History of Tedford Housing

The Brunswick Area Interfaith Council established an emergency homeless shelter in Brunswick Maine in 1987 after a growing number of people sought shelter at mid coast Maine churches.  Originally called Tedford Shelter (named after the owner of the building that was donated for the original shelter), the organization changed its name to  Tedford Housing in 2006 to reflect the larger array of housing and homeless prevention services and solutions we provide in addition to emergency shelter.

Today, Tedford Housing operate two emergency shelters in Brunswick (one for single adults and one for families) and supportive housing apartments in Brunswick, Bath, Lewiston and Auburn.
